This Privacy Policy describes how AI Shortcuts ("we", "our", "the Service") collects, uses, and handles your information when you use our macOS application or web playground.

1. Information We Collect

Device Identifier

We generate an anonymous device identifier based on non-personal browser or system characteristics (screen resolution, language, timezone). This identifier is used solely to enforce free tier usage limits. It is not linked to your identity.

Usage Data

We collect anonymous usage statistics including request counts, feature usage events (e.g. app launch, settings opened), and error logs. This data helps us improve the Service and is not tied to any personal information.

Payment Information

If you subscribe to the Pro plan, payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe, Inc. We do not receive, store, or have access to your credit card number or full payment details. Stripe may collect information necessary to process your payment in accordance with their Privacy Policy.

Local Storage

The Service uses browser localStorage to store your device identifier and custom shortcut configurations. This data remains on your device and is not transmitted to our servers (except the device identifier for usage tracking).

2. Text Processing and Third-Party AI Providers

When you use the Service to process text, your selected text is sent to third-party AI providers for processing. We currently use:

We log request metadata (prompt type, token counts, processing time) for operational purposes. We do not permanently store the content of your text after processing is complete. You are solely responsible for the content you submit for processing.

If you use your own API key, your text is sent directly to the respective provider under your own account and their terms apply.

3. What We Do Not Collect

  • We do not require account creation, names, email addresses, or any personal information
  • We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising
  • We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes
  • We do not use your text to train AI models

4. Data Retention

Usage statistics and event logs are retained for up to 12 months for operational analysis. Device identifiers are retained as long as the associated account remains active. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.

5. Data Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data transmission. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Request information about what data we hold related to your device identifier
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Stop using the Service at any time without penalty

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
